How to install Xbian on Raspberry Pi
You need somes hardware following.
- Raspberry Pi Model B 512MB version (recommended)
- Power adapter for Raspberry Pi (output : 5V 1A or greater highly recommended)
- Some media source (USB flash drive/disk, network share)
- Smartphone (iOS or android)
- TV (Full HD recommended)
- HDMI cable
- Computer with a SD card reader (and use as network share)
- Wifi router
- Ethernet cable or wifi dongle for raspberry pi
Note: Recommend using a self powered devices or connect through powered USB Hub for USB external hard disk

Install XMBC remote app on your smart phone
Format your SD card (Windows)
- Extract and Install SD formatter application
- Format your SD card with SDFormatter
Click "Format" to format your SD card
Format your SD card (Mac)
- Download SD card formatter software (mac)
- Install SD formatter application
- Format your SD card with SDFormatter
Install XBian to SD card (Windows)
You have two choice to install XBian to SD card
- XBian installer software
- Raw XBian image files
XBian installer software
- Download XBian installer
- Extract and run XBian installer
- Select version, select SD card and click install
- XBian installer will download and install to your SD card
- Download XBian image file (XBian 1.0 beta 2)
- Download Win32 disk imager
- Extract Win32 disk imager and run it
- Extract XBian image file (".7z" to ".img")
- Select XBian image file and SD card drive
- Click "Write" button and wait until it done
Install XBian to SD card (Mac)
- Download XBian installer and Run it
- Select version, SD card and click "Install"
- XBian installer will download and install to your SD card
Connect your hardware
- HDMI cable from raspberry pi to TV
- Ethernet cable from raspberry pi to wifi router
- Insert SD card with XBian installed
- Make sure your smart phone and raspberry pi connect to same wifi router and use DHCP for IP address
- Connect power supply and turn on
Press "Find XBMC"
Press "Done"
Press item added and select "Remote Control"
You can use your smart phone with XBMC remote app to control XBian
Press "Enter" (XBMC logo) to next configuration screen until it "Finish"
Your raspberry pi with XBian is ready to use
